Colorado Trades Academy partners with Colorado Springs School District 11 as its local education provider. Our program adds hands-on learning to a family’s home-based education.
Eligibility is reviewed with District 11. Registration is currently closed.
- A home-based educational programStudents must meet the requirements for participation as homeschool students, rather than satisfy compulsory attendance through private-school enrollment.
- A current Notice of IntentA copy of the student’s current homeschool Notice of Intent is required for eligibility verification. Do not send this document through general website email.
- Coordinated enrollment and fundingDisclose other school and program enrollment so the office and District 11 can review eligibility and avoid duplicate funding.

Is CTA a full-time school?
No. CTA is part-time homeschool enrichment. Families remain responsible for their home-based educational program, including required instruction, notices, records, and evaluations.
What ages can participate?
Decorative Ironwork and Digital Art serve ages 9 through high school. Life Skills and Mech Lab serve ages 12 through high school. Welding & Fabrication is for high-school students. Course placement is confirmed by CTA.
What does it cost?
The program is offered at no cost to eligible publicly funded students, subject to eligibility review with District 11. No self-pay enrollment is currently offered. Public funding is not a family spending account or reimbursement for private classes, equipment, or purchases.
What if my child attends another program or an umbrella school?
Tell the office about all current school and program participation before any eligibility determination. Students meeting compulsory attendance through a private, independent, or parochial school are not eligible for this publicly funded homeschool program. Recordkeeping-only umbrella services are different from private-school instruction; the office can help clarify the distinction. Enrollment and funding must be coordinated with District 11 to avoid duplicate funding.
What should students bring and wear?
Bring a labeled water bottle and snack; full-day students should bring lunch. Shop courses require natural-fiber clothing, long pants, sturdy closed-toe shoes, tied-back hair, and no loose jewelry. Avoid synthetic athleticwear and Crocs. Follow your instructor’s directions for protective equipment and course-specific requirements.
How do attendance and missed classes work?
Regular participation matters because skills build from one class to the next. Contact the office promptly about absences and possible makeup arrangements. Families should follow their assigned schedule and current program attendance policy; eligibility is not determined by an attendance total alone.
Can a parent stay?
Parents and guardians are welcome in designated spaces. On the first day, accompany your student inside so staff can introduce the check-in process. Ask the office about a parent tour or safety briefing.
Who should I contact about accommodations?
Contact the CTA office to discuss access needs, accommodations, or support before class. Staff can coordinate with the appropriate District 11 contacts as needed. Please request a secure communication method before sending student health, disability, or education records.
Will my student earn high-school credit or a certification?
Families should confirm credit acceptance with the school or program responsible for the student’s transcript. CTA does not promise automatic credit, an industry credential, employment, or professional licensure. Ask about any current course-specific testing opportunities and their requirements.
What happens in bad weather?
Check communications from the CTA office for schedule changes before traveling. If conditions are unsafe where you live, contact the office about your student’s absence and possible makeup arrangements.
Can I register for 2026/27?
Registration is closed for the 2026/27 school year. No applications, waitlist submissions, or payments are being accepted through this website. Contact the office with general program questions.
